Comstock Park football preview: Panthers enter season with ‘walnut mittens’ on their mind

COMSTOCK PARK, MI – Nine years have passed since Comstock Park’s football team added anything to the Panthers’ trophy case, and for a program that reached three consecutive state semifinals from 2011-13, that drought feels way too long.

The Panthers came close in 2021, when they went undefeated in the regular season, won the OK Silver and forced head coach Doug Samuels to uphold his end of a bargain and let the players shave his beard.
